Front Seat Boxes

Two additional layers of epoxy were applied to the inside of the front seat boxes. Now waiting on them to cure so I can fiberglass the outside of the boxes and attach them to the floor.

  1. Hi Todd,

Thanks a lot for taking the time to post your building progress! This is going to help me so much when I start the build of my Perfect 10 "Ferrous Pony"(Iron Horse). I received my plans about 2 weeks ago and i'm just source my materials now. Can you tell me how much epoxy you have used to date on your build?

    Thanks again, Ryan

  2. Thanks for following my blog on my build! It has been a lot of fun, but I should have been completed a long time ago.
As far as epoxy, I have used five gallons so far (epoxy and hardener included), and just ordered another six gallon kit from Raka yesterday. It should be more than enough, but I want to make sure. Raka epoxy has been very good quality as well.
I want to clarify that I am fiberglassing every piece of wood on both sides, so it will depend on what you are doing to determine the amount of epoxy needed. I just wanted to make sure that there will not be any water intrusion as long as possible! If you ever have any other questions, just let me know.
Where are you located and are you going to do a blog? It is very easy on here and I would love to see your work.

  3. I'm located in Kitchener Ontario Canada about 70 miles west on Toronto. I have given some thought to blogging my build in hopes that i may help others in their future builds. I have tossed the idea of a video blog around, not sure i'm the on camera type LOL. I was planning on using E.A.S.T systems epoxy, it works out to about $77/gal. At this point i have not purchased any material so i'm open to any brand. I have jumped the gun on a few things and made up 3 traditional manila rope Fenders and purchased a vintage wood steering wheel. I've been in the RC hobby for many years building planes and boats, Mustang, Decathalon, L-19, Dumas Sk-daddle to name a few. I hope this experience will help with my build. Thanks again!

  4. Ryan,
I would really like to know how you made those manila fenders. Could you please send me the directions if you have them or a video or whatever? I have found a little direction on how to make them but it was very confusing and not enough for me to get started? Did you use a regular fender underneath? I also want to know how to make the front mustache fender if you know that.
Also, where did you get the vintage steering wheel? I was thinking about making one of them as well, but I would rather buy one if I can find it.
I have been in the RC airplane hobby for years as well. Built over a hundred airplanes during my life. Never built an RC boat though. Always wanted to, but have always had much bigger builds than that going on.
    Thanks again!!
